Overview

FanBants Sports has been looking into ways to improve user engagement with a new Achievement Badges system, designed to gamify the experience and encourage user participation and retention. The project is set to launch soon, with anticipated outcomes including increased user activity and satisfaction.

My Role

As the UI/UX Designer, I led the design and planning of the badges system alongside the Product Manager and Head of Engineering, focusing on user engagement, visual aesthetics, and seamless integration. I also collaborated with the Growth team to ensure the system aligns with the app’s brand guidelines and user expectations.

Badge Types

The badges were placed in the following categories:

Contest Numbers

These badge types will be awarded to users based on the number of contests they have entered. As they enter more contests, they get more badges in this category.

JJC Debut

Contract Debut

FanBants Legend

Ultimate Legend

Contest Consistency

These types will be awarded to users based on their consistency in contest and general app participation. For instance, they can receive badges for referring a number of people of the app and also for entering all the different contest types

Jack of All Trades

FanBants Anniversary

Agent Mendez

Position/Leaderboard Based

Users will be awarded these based on their positions in contests or leaderboards. This is the most competitive element of the app so having achievements based on performance can be seen to boost user engagement.

Future Recommendations

To maximize the impact of the Achievement Badges system, we will need to consider expanding the types of badges and introducing new categories as users become more engaged. Also, implementing a progression system that unlocks advanced badges based on prior achievements can keep users motivated. Another recommendation will be to regularly gather user feedback post-launch to refine the system and explore offering exclusive rewards for top-tier badges to give more incentives for participation and enhance user retention.
